List of The Best Resorts in Port Douglas

The Port Douglas Pullman Sea Temple Resort tends to be cheaper than The Sheraton Grand Mirage, depending on which room configuration you choose. The Sheraton is closer to the heart of Port Douglas and is directly behind Four Mile Beach, Sea Temple is further south at the bottom end of Four Mile Beach, it’s also directly behind the beach, but separated by a natural strip of trees and vegetation.

Sheraton Grand Mirage Rooms
Beautiful rooms at The Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas. Swim-out rooms are also available, as they are at The Pullman Sea Temple Resort. Expect to spend $500 – $600 per night for two people. Obviously, this varies as various room configurations are available.

The backdrop to Port Douglas’s 4 Mile Beach is a nature reserve and no development is allowed in this zone. Therefore there are no resort hotels directly on the besch in Port Douglas. The Sheraton Grand Mirage is the closest to “Beachfront”.

The Sheraton Grand Port Douglas has a wedding chapel on-site, just behind the beach, it has the biggest pool by area, but Sea Temple’s pool is a very close second. Neither are heated and in winter they can be chilly.

Sheraton Hotel Breakfast Buffet
Breakfast Buffet at The Sheraton. This buffet is also available to non-residents, it costs about $50 per person, from 6.30 am.

Oaks Resort is on the main road into Port Douglas. Again, this resort has a great pool. Oaks is one of the more affordable hotels in Port Douglas and is great for families. It’s not “on the beach” but shuttle buses stop here.

All three resorts mentioned here have parking and all three have apartments as well as regular hotel rooms.

There are no resorts in Port Douglas with a kids’ club as you can find in other countries, but most can organise babysitting and may provide some kids’ activities in the school holidays.

Use our hotel links below to see more details.

  • The Sheraton Grand Mirage (Five star, buffet breakfast just under $50 Au per person, or may be included)
  • Pullman Sea Temple Resort and Spa (Five-star resort, breakfast can be included or is available for $42 Au per person approx.)
  • Oaks Port Douglas Resort (a Four Star resort with breakfast available at just under $30 per person, or included. Oaks has a very good pizza restaurant and takeaway. Oaks is a more affordable option, with apartments for families or groups.)

There is one Club Wyndham Resort in Port Douglas, The Ramada Port Douglas (Resort by Wyndham), formerly the Mercure Treetops, is fairly well-located and has been refurbished quite recently. It’s not on the beach, but close enough that you can easily walk to the beach and from there walk into town (and to the swimming enclosure) in about half an hour. Take a look at The Ramada here. It’s a more affordable option and apartments can have a full kitchen.
