St Mary’s by the Sea is a beautiful small chapel in Port Douglas Australia. This tiny multi-denominational church is often used as a wedding chapel in Port Douglas.
This little while chapel has water views, towards Dickson’s Inlet and the Sugar Wharf, at the northern end of Macrossan St, where it joins Wharf Street. It is next door to the Port Douglas Sunday Market grounds and almost opposite the Court House pub.
Gorgeous tropical flowers and foliage grow around the chapel, and palm trees complete the idyllic scene.
Notice the tropical stained glass in the windows. You can see nautilus shells in the artwork. These shells can sometimes wash up on Four Mile Beach. You’ll need to be up very early to find one!
