Is there any Nightlife in Port Douglas?
The nightlife in Port Douglas is very low-key (some would say almost non-existent). Restaurants close early compared to other parts of the world and the pubs tend towards quiet. Special events may have people dancing into the night, but Port Douglas isn’t much of a party town, particularly not in the low season.
The Port Douglas Marina used to have a nightclub, but that fell into ruin a long time ago. For night owls you may be able to find some activity at the Ironbar or upstairs at The Court House Hotel. N17 Sports Bar also keeps late hours if a big match is on the screen.
Some venues, like the Port Douglas Yacht Club, have special party nights and during Port Douglas Carnivale events will pull the crowds into town after dark. Carnivale is usually towards the end of May.
Likewise, at Christmas and New Year there is usually some evening entertainment and fireworks displays.
In high season there is sometimes an outdoor cinema in Port Douglas and the local theatre has shows from time to time, including concerts, plays and musicals.
Live music happens at the Courthouse and Paddy’s Irish Bar, but it tends to end early. Sunday afternoon is a good time to catch a live performance.
