We last visited the Sheraton Mirage for breakfast in 2024. Non-residents can buy the breakfast buffet at this hotel. At peak times it may be wise to book by phone, but you can also turn up on the day. It’s a good buffet breakfast, fairly expensive, but there is a discount for locals, with proof of residence address.

This is a short review of the buffet breakfast at the Sheraton Grand Mirage in Port Douglas, with photos. Obviously, menus change, staff changes and you can’t guarantee that your experience will be the same as ours. You can’t guarantee that for any restaurant.

Hot food on the buffet
hot food items on the Sheraton’s buffet breakfast. Yes, Australians eat baked beans, the same as the Brits! You can easily put a full-English together from the buffet items.

We’ve eaten breakfast at the Sheraton maybe 20 times over the years and it’s always been a good place to go for breakfast. We started visiting with small children or toddlers, so we can tell you that they do have high chairs.

What’s on The Buffet Breakfast at The Sheraton?

smoked salmon, capers, lemon, sour cream on the buffet
Smoked salmon is one of the cold buffet items at The Sheraton.

There was a good selection of breads for toast, some European pastries, but no pain au chocolat on the day we last visited.

Chefs cooked eggs to order, including an omelette station, plus there were scrambled eggs and boiled eggs on the buffet. Hollandaise was available. The boiled egg I took was underdone, the white wasn’t cooked.

There were breakfast meats, sausages and bacon, I didn’t try the meat. There was plenty for vegetarians, vegans could probably do OK too. You’d probably have to ask what was vegan.

For a continental breakfast, there were cold meats, salads and cheeses. There was a very good selection. I didn’t see waffles or pancakes for an American breakfast, but they may be on the daily rotation.

The Sheraton usually has Asian breakfast items, I’ve seen Indian dal, rice, noodles, and miso soup on the breakfast menu. But not all on the same day.

noodles, sesame seeds, fried onions, scallions or spring onions on the buffet

As Port Douglas is in the tropics you can expect a selection of tropical fruits. Hopefully seasonal.

Buffet Breakfast Price and Service Times

The buffet breakfast is open 7 days a week to non-residents, from 6.30 am to 10.30 am

The Cost is $48 per adult, $25 for kids age 5 to 12. Kids aged 4 and under are free. Prices are in Australian dollars.

A Local discount price was available when we last visited (July 2024), but when we phoned to check (November 2024) we were told by the receptionist that it wasn’t available. This is the information on breakfast service that we were given today, things could change. We do our best to update if prices or other details change.

Other Places With Buffet Breakfasts in Port Douglas

The Pullman Sea Temple Resort and Spa also offers a good buffet breakfast, not as big as the breakfast at The Sheraton.

The full Pullman buffet price is $42 for adults, $19 for kids (4 yrs to 14 yrs) and breakfast is served between 7 am and 11 am. There is a local discount, the full buffet is only $30 for locals. This information was correct in November 2024. There is also a continental breakfast (cereal fruits, juice etc.) for only $30.

Our team is currently researching other buffet breakfasts in town, along with The Sheraton’s seafood buffet. Sign up and these reviews will be sent to your email.

Book The Sheraton Here!

The Sheraton is probably the best 5 star resort hotel in Port Douglas and it’s directly behind the beach. Its pools are the biggest in Port Douglas. You can book your stay at The Sheraton Grand Mirage on Booking.com here, or on Agoda or on Expedia. When we checked Agoda was the cheapest, but prices go up and down. The Sheraton is owned by Marriott, to the best of our knowledge. You would need to book direct through Marriott or on The Sheraton’s own website. The booking platforms above are more convenient to use, and often cheaper and/or refundable.
